Does AI have a place in Writing your CV

In a world where Artificial Intelligence is integrated into almost everything we do. Does AI have a place in your CV?

Recently at Ahoy crew we have seen many CVs come across our desk, which seem to be altered or completely made by Ai. Your CV is the only thing that sets you apart from any other crew member that applies for a job. Why leave that in the hands of artificial intelligence?

“The very first recorded CV was created and submitted by Leonardo DaVinci in the late 15th century”

The CV has been a part of the human life for over 7 centuries, the beauty of this tradition cannot be replaced or recreated by a software system.

Your CV should reflect your professional personality on paper. Curriculum vitae is Latin for “way of life”. Henceforth, it is used to reflect our professional careers as it takes up so much of our lives. It tells your story to your potential future employer. This cannot be recreated by any amount of technology; our voices cannot be remade by Ai. The key elements of your CV are the Profile, Maritime experience and Hobbies and Interests. No matter how good Ai is, it cannot express the experiences and knowledge you have acquired in your experience, simply because Ai doesn’t experience life as we do.

Moreover, we as humans have one incredible advantage over Ai we write with emotion and creativity. The hobbies and interests’ section of your cv, is the section that sells you to a yacht. Being a crew member on a yacht is so much more than your experience of cleaning yachts and planned maintenance, it’s fitting into a crew, it’s bringing an extra skill to the team. Be it kite surfing, photography, scuba diving or speaking multiple languages. These are the things that set us apart from others, these are the things that Ai can’t recreate.

However, it is a useful tool onboard yachts for itinerary planning, finding out what’s happening in the local area, tracking down contractors, organising crew movements. As we continue to move into times where yacht innovation is constantly evolving should we be relying on technology to produce the next incredible innovation or should be as humans be trusting our natural intelligence as we have done for centuries to keep developing groundbreaking concepts.
